David is tired of the rat race and decides to stop running in it, but he has no real idea of what to do next; only the vague conviction that there must be more to life...

So David quit his job today
He doesn't have a plan except to do things in his own sweet way
Got on the bus, went to the park
Sat down and thought for hours, until the sun went down and the sky went dark
And when the policeman asked if there was something wrong David said "Yes, there is..."

"I feel," he said, "There must be something more"
"Something out there that life's worth living for"
"I'm old enough to know that the time has come for me to look for"
"Something more."

So David went down to the beach
He's always loved it there, there's something so relaxing about the sea
The sun was hot upon his skin (the sea invited David in)
So David took off his clothes, left them on the beach and went for a swim
But still that wasn't enough to stop that nagging feeling that there was something wrong...

"I feel," he said, "There must be something more"
"Something out there that life's worth living for"
"I'm old enough to know that the time has come for me to look for"
"Something more."

"The problem Dave," his parents said
"Is that you're young and you've got this idea in your head"
"The grass must be greener, the air must be cleaner"
"And you'll think you're happy 'cos your life will be sweeter"
"You're not old enough son, I think you're jumping the gun"
"And pretty soon you'll realise that life's not all about fun"
"You're crossing the street to find a better life"
"But the sun is always brighter on the other side"

"I feel," he said, "There must be something more"
"Something out there that life's worth waiting for"
"I'm old enough to know that the time has come for me to look for"
"Something more."
"I feel," he said, "There must be something more"
"Something out there that life's worth living for"
"And if I never look then I will always wonder if there's..."
"It's time to bait my hook and cast my line to find out if there's..."
"I hear you but I need to find out for myself if there is"
"Something more."
Simon's about to get a wake up call from the long-suffering love of his life... can he make things right?

Simon's always been reliably unreliable, it's a skill for which he's earned renown
If you ever needed somebody to disappoint you can count on him to let you down
Lucy's always been so solid and dependable, living proof that opposites attract
But she's finally had enough and kicked him out the house, looks like this time she won't have him back
It's at times like these that revelation strikes
(And that's when Simon said)

"I've always been a disappointment to you and to myself"
"I've been the fly stuck in your ointment, a threat to your mental health"
"But I'm gonna change the world this time, become a man upon whom you can rely"
"I'm gonna get it right this time."

Lucy's waking up and fending off the moment that she remembers that she's on her own
Simon said that he would get his act together but Lucy doesn't really hold much hope
Today is worse because today's their anniversary, a day he's never once remembered before
So Lucy can't contain the sudden rush of tears when the biggest bunch of flowers are left at her door
She reads the card attached with smiles and puffy eyes
(And here's what Simon wrote)

"I've always been a disappointment to you and to myself"
"I've been the fly stuck in your ointment, a threat to your mental health"
"But I'm gonna change the world this time, become a man upon whom you can rely"
"I'm gonna get it right this time."

Lucy's mother tells her leopards never change their spots and if she takes him back he'll let her down
But Lucy notices her father has a troubled look, he's looking thoughtful and he's wearing a frown
So later on when Lucy finally gets him on his own she asks him if there's something she should know
He tells her "Lucy, sometimes history repeats itself," and digs a letter out from long ago
He shyly tells her that he wrote it to her mom
(And here's what Daddy wrote)

"I've always been a disappointment to you and to myself"
"I've been the fly stuck in your ointment, a threat to your mental health"
"But I'm gonna change the world this time, become a man upon whom you can rely"
"I'm gonna get it right this time."
Now Simon's not a disappointment to her or to himself
He's not the fly stuck in her ointment, or a threat to her mental health
Simon went and changed the world one time, became a man upon whom she can rely
Looks like he got it right this time.
Wistful and seemingly unrequited; the love for Sarah.

Dear Sarah,
We haven't known one another long, but I know that you're what I need
And I hate the ones who tell us that it's wrong so I'm asking you to...
Believe in what I say, even if it sounds clichéd
You've gotta put me out of my misery

I've laid myself wide open, my heart is on my sleeve
The ball is in your corner, I'm waiting in the wings
You're a candle in the darkness and I'm a moth drawn to your flame
You gotta help me now 'cos I can't play
The waiting game.

So Sarah,
It's a week since you went away but it feels like it's been a year
Sarah when you come back to stay then you know that I'll still be
Here and on my knees begging Sarah please
You've gotta put me out of my misery

I've laid myself wide open, my heart is on my sleeve
The ball is in your corner, I'm waiting in the wings
You're a candle in the darkness and I'm a moth drawn to your flame
You gotta help me now 'cos I can't play
The waiting game.

So believe in what I say even if it sounds clichéd
You gotta put me out of my misery

I've laid myself wide open, my heart is on my sleeve
The ball is in your corner, I'm waiting in the wings
You're a candle in the darkness and I'm a moth drawn to your flame
You gotta help me now 'cos I can't play
(The waiting game)
You know I burn my fingers nine times out of ten
The hardest part is waiting but I'll do it all again
My breath is always bated, the end's always the same
You gotta help me now 'cos I can't play
The waiting game.

Dear Sarah...
Sometimes the closest people to us are the ones we know the least, and want to know the most. The only things we truly regret are the chances never taken.

I first met her in a car park
Shared a smile but neither one talked
I never thought I'd see her face again
There was physical attraction
You could tell from her reaction
But I never said a word I'm not that brave
I next met her that same weekend
It turns out we share the same friends
I don't know how we had never met before
Once the drink had got us talking
Carried on until the morning
Fell asleep next to each other on the floor

But it didn't work out, what can I say?
Somehow I missed my chance along the way
She'll meet the love of her life who'll sweep her off her feet
But it won't be me

I found out her name was Emma
We spent all the our time together
We were never far apart or so it seems
We learned all about each other
Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers
Things we hated, things we loved, our hopes and dreams
Other people couldn't stand it
Went from asking to demanding
Explanations for the things that we denied
We smiled shyly at each other
Said we're like sister and brother
But in my case I would blush 'cos I'd lied

But it didn't work out, what can I say?
Somehow I missed my chance along the way
She'll meet the love of her life who'll sweep her off her feet
But it won't be me

I have loved him since forever
And the memories I will treasure
But he doesn't seem to feel that way for me
It's like accidental torture
Having what you always thought would
Make you happy then you find out it's a dream
I know soon I must forget him
Also know that I'll regret it
He's the dream that I've been chasing all my days
It will kill me when we're parted
I know I'll be broken hearted
But I know we have to go our separate ways

But it didn't work out, what can I say?
Somehow I missed my chance along the way
She'll meet the love of her life who'll sweep her off her feet
But it won't be me
